What’s the chance that those nude photos your lover took of you in your bedroom will end up in an art gallery somewhere? If you happen to be an iconic artist like Jean-Michel Basquiat, the answer is very likely.

Last year, Basquiat’s former girlfriend, photojournalist Paige Powell, brought out her personal collection of snapshots, documenting her transition from working at Interview magazine to being Andy Warhol’s confidante in the 1980’s. It was in her job description to capture the candid, intimate moments inside Warhol’s world at that time. That meant, taking pictures of a young Madonna on the dancefloor, Keith Haring hanging out, and Jean-Michel Basquiat in his birthday suit.BN-DZ907_Basqui_OZ_20140807020548Paige first arrived in New York City in 1980 “looking like a granola version of Edie Sedgwick and armed with the work ethic of Mary Tyler Moore,” according to the New York Times. She dated Basquiat for two years, from 1982 to 1984. Apparently long enough to get the artist to strip completely naked for one of Paige’s photoshoots. The full-frontal images of Basquiat were collected and became a 2014 exhibition simply titled, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Reclining Nude. Looking at the photos, it’s clear that Basquiat was very comfortable in his own skin, as that was not the only time he posed nude.

“He would have loved [the photos being on display],” Paige told Dazed when the exhibit was going on. “He loved his body. He wanted to be an actor and wanted to do film.”

Now, Paige is bringing out even more photos from her personal archives. This time we get more intimate glimpses of Andy Warhol, Madonna, Keith Haring and Grace Jones. Flirty fact: Madonna and Basquiat also had a thing. These photos will be on display at the Portland Art Museum until February. Photos from that exhibit are below.
