Miami Travelogue: Chill Night at Nikki Beach
To experience quintessential South Beach nightlife, we headed to Nikki Beach. It was exactly what you would imagine from a club that was rented out for Diddy’s VMA party a couple of years ago. Skimpy outfits, loud top 40 music, roped off VIP areas with bottle service, even a late-night pizza shack for the drunken munchies.
Their marketing director was in Ibiza for the grand opening of their nightclub there (Nikki Beach also operates clubs in St. Tropez, St. Barth and Cabo), but we got a quick tour of the two-story party sand palace from the manager.
On late Sunday night in July, Nikki Beach Miami was “empty” by early Summer standards, the manager told us. Which was fine by me since I hate crowded clubs and strangers bumping into me. Apparently, most jet-setting party-goers (the type of clientele Nikki Beach aims to attract) spend the month of July in Europe.
“Winters are all about partying in Miami,” he told us, “but Summer you want to be in Europe.” Oops, I guess we didn’t get the memo.
For locals, Nikki Beach Miami offers a popular Amazing Sundays brunch with mimosas, sushi rolling stations, delicious dessert, daytime DJs and live entertainment on the beach.
