In my usual tradition of posting photos months after taking them… here are some pics I took during the first Sunday Streets in the Embarcadero. For those of you unfamiliar with San Francisco holidays, Sundays Streets happen every Spring. On designated Sundays, certain streets are closed off prohibiting car traffic, thus allowing pedestrians, bicyclists, parents with strollers and Burners in oversized steam punk-style vehicles to roam freely around the city without having to look both ways.
The first Sunday Streets of 2013 took over the famed Embarcadero district in March.
Local indie band performed in front of the Bay Bridge, hoping to find a rocket ship to launch their music career.
No wonder San Francisco is the capital of Star Trek‘s Federation of Planets. The 40-foot Raygun Gothic Rocketship sculpture returned to its original artist studio in Okland shortly after this photo was taken.
Contrary to popular belief, the Bay Bridge is not an installation that originated at Burning Man.
A traffic jam in a perfect world.
Every Lyft car should be an oversized steampunk quadracycle.
Or at least a desert buggy.
El Pulpo Mechanico.
The F Train, on time.
